Jesus Christ became the ultimate sacrifice to restore our relationship with the Lord. He left his throne temporarily and through the Holy Spirit was conceived in the womb of a virgin. He became human and this was called the Virginal Conception. Mary, the virgin was a young girl from the city of Bethlehem and she was engaged to Joseph. In Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-28, Christ’s royal lineage is explained through Joseph’s lineage. The significance of the virgin birth is that the Holy Spirit, not man, was responsible for the conception, thus, the Father is the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and He (God) is the Savior of man, not man. It is crucial to understand that the Father maintained His Son’s paternity and demonstrated His love for mankind by ushering salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ (Isaiah 6:8, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”). This was a bold statement from the Lord in an affirmation that man is unable to redeem himself from the original sin committed in the Garden of Eden.
