How has Satan deceived the Church? For many years already, churches in America have rapidly demised resorting to a theology that is based on selfish doctrine rather than a Christ centric focus.  Within the last 20 years Christ has been equated to an antiquated ideology and the Bible is now considered a book filled with hate.  It seems as though the world has turned upside down, and there is a total reversal of morality.  What was good is now bad and what was bad is now good.  Isaiah 5:20 says Woe to those who call evil good  and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

We have put tremendous time into understanding the basis for this phenomenon and have determined that there are a few key factors that have ensued to usher in this crisis. So, how has Satan deceived the Church?

  1. The first stage is compartmentalized Christianity and creating a duality in our lives.  Rather that invoking God in all aspects of our lives, God is simply one small part which is generally a “Sunday Only” focus.  These Christians have been deceived by Satan to believe that faith and life is incompatible, therefore, having a little bit of God is sufficient.  Christians have been fooled to believe the false narrative of “Church and State” separation as well as keeping God at bay in the professional realm.  We mention separation of “Church and State” because the Founding Fathers of the US intended to limit one church from becoming a state church as was the case in Great Britain with the Church of England.  Clearly, this mentality did not manifest spontaneously.  It took many years to alter the perception and a mindset towards a limited relationship with the Lord.

  2. The second stage is a decrease in Biblical knowledge.  Logically, a disregard for the Lord leads to a lack of knowledge and understanding for God.  Christians chose to indulge in worldly pleasures, setting personal pleasures at a higher priority level above the Almighty.

  3. The third stage brought in false theologies and selfish doctrines by Satan which infiltrated churches across America.  At the core of the teachings is selfishness, pursuit of wealth, prosperity and a feel good “Christianity” which overtook the churches like wildfire.  To be clear, money is not evil as it is a neutral object, however the love of money is at the root of the problem.  In 1 Timothy 6:10, it states 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

With this destructive falsehood preached from the pulpits in America, suddenly Pastors were preaching for more money, a focus on giving to receive healing, giving to receive blessings, and an overall “Vending Machine” Christianity.  In the meantime, life went on and Satan gained greater ground, overtaking our nation on all levels.  From the government to social organizations, society suddenly became corrupt.  With a lack of Christians to engage in society and influence their world through the blessed teachings of Christ, we spiraled into total moral chaos.  Suddenly killing the unborn, and persecution of the Church in the Middle East, Asia and Africa is no longer a concern.

What is the solution?  Christians must first repent of their sins, rededicate themselves to the Lord and commit themselves to the Kingdom of Heaven.  Some of the activities that must be done should be to engage in individual and collective prayer, helping the helpless and speaking out for Christ.  Once we take a proactive approach to our faith, the Holy Spirit will help embolden us to move forward in victory over Satan.  We must remember that Satan has been crushed by the Lord multiple times throughout history and today is no exception.  Take on the responsibility and reengage in the faith.  Illuminating Faith has carefully crafted our motto to address this problem.  We encourage Christians to Repent, Pray and Engage.

If you are ready to receive the Lord and to join the body of Christ, pray this prayer, Lord Jesus I know that I am sinner and I ask you forgive me of my sins.  I believe that you were crucified for my sins and through your blood I have redemption and salvation.  Please come into my heart and I receive you as my God.  I pray in Jesus name. AMEN
